Named after one of her hit albums, songstress and dance diva Jolin Tsai has launched her own clothing line. Tsai professed that as creative director of Seventy Two Changes, all of the style sin her debut collection has her own touch. She partnered with Ken Erman, the guy behind Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. and Truth & Pride clothing lines to produce this young and hip collection into the Chinese market.
For the initial offering of Seventy Two Changes, Jolin was inspired by elements of contemporary jazz dance. There is a mix of traditionally feminine pieces with tailored masculine silhouettes. Offering elegant printed tops and dresses alongside structured vests and tuxedo-style jackets, the colors range from reds and grays within the collection’s featured plaids, rich purples paired with neutrals, and sky-inspired blues. The textures are an assortment of rich suiting fabrics and satin, soft leather, lace, and embellishments that add glamour and sophistication.
Jolin’s personal style and her appreciation for dance has been infused to the overall design. She further comments that “I’m glad to have had the opportunity to create Seventy Two Changes,” adding that “This partnership has given me the chance to branch out within my career and to extend my creative vision beyond the style I have expressed on stage and in videos.”
