Branding themselves as “The Most Powerful Japanese Girlie Pop Rock,” the femme quartet behind the group SCANDAL is on its way into rocking the JPop industry. Reminiscent of glamour rock such as Pat Benatar mixed with school girl cuteness, lets meet them!
After releasing a collection of singles and mini albums, these fierce girls began gaining spotlight after doing performance in Japan’s Shibuya district and caught the eye of a music producer from Kitty Records. SCANDAL is composed of four girls hailing from Osaka, namely Haruna Ono, Tomomi Ogawa, Mami Sasazaki, and Rina Suzuki and debuted in 2008. Their songs have gained popularity after being featured as ending themes for various manga and anime productions last year.
Fans of anime themselves, the girls are marketed with a unique technique…. their official website profiles each band member complete with an animated version of themselves. Their most recent achievement is a song for popular anime Full Metal Alchemist, entitled Brotherhood –
SCANDAL released their first major album BEST★SCANDAL at the end of October 2009, peaking at the fifth position in the Oricon weekly charts. Now, the group has prepared the song Shunkan Sentimental to be used as the new ending theme of the anime “Hagane no renkinjutsu shi FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST” starting in January.
Their single, DOLL is also a good rockpop song. Take a listen:
